Affirmative Action for Whites Thu, November 23, 2006

Finally, a bit of sense amid a lot of self-serving, P.C. politics.

I support this wholeheartedly. And if they don’t want this, then they should do away with other affirmative action.

Arctic Resists Warming Fri, November 17, 2006

Oh, the trees and the forests and the beautiful bushes are all resisting the evil warming of the globe! I jump with joy, and shout with glee!

This is so…stupid.

Here is a cooling trend in the Arctic, and leftist environmentalists are saying that it is the Arctic “fighting back.”

How about “this is an indication that maybe we weren’t right about global warming?”

Since when does an area “fight back” like this? It’s intellectually dishonest to say this, instead of saying what is true: “the facts aren’t on our side!”

Walter Williams on Politics and Black Americans Wed, November 15, 2006

Walter Williams writes a convincing piece that undermines the assumed link between disintegrating black communities and oppressive conservatives, or liberal, loving Democrats.

While blacks have long been staunch supporters of the Democratic party, Williams illustrates the fact that what is eating the black inner-city community is not Big Government, but a moral issue coming from the inside.

He cites the higher crime rates in areas that are populated more highly with blacks, and points to the fact that 94% of black homicide victims were murdered by blacks.

The point that Williams makes is that there is a breakdown in the black family that stands apart from who is in power in Washington.

This brings up a very important question:

“What have the Democrats really actually done for African-Americans?”

Increasing social programs cannot be viewed as necessarily good for blacks. Williams cites the increasing illegitimacy rate within the black community. This alarming increase (55%) in the illegitimacy rate between 1940 and today points to the fact that increased social programs do not positively impact blacks at a fundamental family level.

A thoughtful, short piece.

Boortz on What’s In Store with the Dems Wed, November 15, 2006

A very good article.

I don’t agree with all that the people below hold to, but note the progression below, and think about what Neal Boortz says in his article.

We will be a socialist nation in under 50 years.

Thomas Jefferson:
“The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.”
Florence King:
“Chinks in America’s egalitarian armor are not hard to find. Democracy is the fig leaf of elitism.”
Karl Marx:
“Democracy is the road to Socialism.”

Herman Cain on the Election Wed, November 15, 2006

This is a really good article to read. If you want the crux of the issue, here’s a key quote that summarizes Herman Cain’s point.

“The two major political parties are attempting to convince voters that ideology and policy prescriptions are no longer relevant. Election contests are no longer a forum to discuss individual candidates’ solutions to the big issues of the day. Instead, candidates receive their talking points from the party leaders, reducing the election and public policy process to little more than a popularity contest. We the voters are rendered tailgaters in the parking lot, waving our red or blue flags in support of our favorite team.”

This is very much in keeping with what I said earlier in reference to the Bush Referendum.

The American people have long row to hoe if they aren’t going to keep the main thing the main thing.
I think that the place we’ve come to as a nation today has a lot to do with “group-think” and our committment to a “team” rather than committment to principles.

Again, as Herman Cain puts it:
“We the voters are rendered tailgaters in the parking lot, waving our red or blue flags in support of our favorite team.”

Instead of having the real issues be the ones that are the…real issues…we elect politicians who have all strayed from an ideology to which we profess to hold. We do this because we don’t judge the politician by his own way of life and his record, but by his political color.

The “main thing” according to politicians is to build legacies, create names for themselves, and by their unprincipled governing, use the governed as a means to their own ends.
