As Geoffrey pointed out, their poor “journalism” has had an effect.

Thanks for the tip, Geoff.

Michelle Malkin (one of my favorite columnists) has written an expose  on the New York Times that (again) undermines their supposed journalistic integrity.  This ought to be read and passed around.

For others of you, the subject material is heartbreaking, so be prepared.  It concerns political agendas and abortion.

It seems that Jack Hitt published a story about how abortion is illegal in El Salvador.  More information can be found here in this link to a post earlier this month that gives more of the story.  Read more by clicking the “more” button.

I don’t quite know what to say.  It’s sad to see indoctrination being passed off as “diversity training.”  If diversity isn’t bad (as we are told) then there would be tolerance from the left for those who think it is bad.  The left likes diversity, as long as it agrees with them.  If someone doesn’t agree with them, they are usually hateful, biased, bigoted, misogynistic, homophobic, anti-progressive, blood-for-oil, or in some other way a very nasty person.

Our schools no longer teach students how to think (in a socratic method, or really any other way that values individual thinking) but instead teach agendas as truth.

Key Quote Here:

“‘It’s very, very serious stuff. Mr. Nifong could lose his law license. [If that happens] he could no longer be [Durham County] district attorney,’ said Rufus Edmisten, a lawyer and former attorney general of North Carolina.”

No way.  You’ve got to be kidding!  You mean that if the DA held evidence back and lied to a judge and lost his license, that he could lose his job?

Of course he could no longer be the DA.

Again, this hearkens back to a post I linked to at The Liberty Papers that is quite good.  You can get to my post here and to Stephen Littau’s post here.  I’d go straight to The Liberty Papers, though. I didn’t have a lot to say after Littau.

The Link is at the bottom of the page…

I’ve heard many Christians say things like “I like some libertarian thought, but I disagree on some social issues.”

Ah.  Well, your favorite conservatives (the Republicans…I say this because in calling them conservative it eviscerates the word of any real meaning, and so I have to specify to whom it is that I am nominally referring as “conservatives”) are not really on the same page with you on social issues either.

If morals and principles were the currency of the day, the GOP would be bankrupt.  It does not represent the concerns or values of Christians, and when it seems to represent those concerns, it does not do so in any principled sense.  Any “bible-belt” mentality of the GOP is merely a last vestige of an unpopular worldview.

Kerry’s Antics Thu, January 25, 2007

He’s a sinister man.  Nothing much has changed; he performed during congressional hearings during Vietnam then, and he’s performing before the Senate now.

He announces candidacy for president, and then withdraws it, saying that he must right his wrong (voting for US involvement in Iraq) by staying in the Senate to bring troops home.

In reality, Kerry couldn’t care less about the troops in Iraq.  He cared nothing for the troops in Vietnam, either.  Why should he have changed?

Kerry is an political opportunist.  He couldn’t have won this upcoming presidential race for love or money. Did he ever intend to run?  I think not.  But announcing a bid for president and then concluding “it was not time” to launch a campaign yields the perfect opportunity to show himself as a Senator who, in a principled manner, stays behind, giving up the potential career in the White House, so that he can right the wrongs of this misguided war, and bring our troops home.

Horse-feathers.

This is a great piece on how the scales of justice need to be rebalanced or re-calibrated.

It’s thought provoking, and also points to an issue that is not very well thought out by mainstream-anyone.  Freedom from an oppressive government who would convict you even if it was not just?

Our government wouldn’t do that…would they?

It’s really really really bad.  It’s not just like, some grade B movie. It’s so totally worse.

They even have a smoking gun.  And not only that, but they use phrases that just show us how totally bad it is.  I mean, it’s not just that they have a smoking gun, but they tell us things carefully, using the right amount of drama: “This isn’t a smoking gun; climate is a batallion of intergalactic smoking missiles.”

I was like, Oh My Gosh!  If they say that climate is like a batallion or whatever that is of inner-something smoking missiles, then that’s bad, right? I mean, a missile is totally worse than a smoking gun.  Smoking kills, and then when you add the fact that it’s like a missile or something that could blow stuff up or whatever, then it’s really bad.

I’m glad that they put things in down-to-earth words so that we don’t have to know all the hard science or whatever that it’s based on.

Global Warming Overhyped Mon, January 22, 2007

An interesting article regarding scientists who wonder if global warming has been oversold to the extent that the credibility of its proponents is on the line…

While still holding the belief that global warming is a problem, some scientists think that the mass-marketing version is a bit too much.  Blaming Katrina on global warming?  Saying that global warming is to blame for sweltering summers?  These are standard lines that the drive-by media and the left use to great effect.  I hope that it gets so overhyped that its apocolyptic end is seen for what it is — politics and power.

This book, called Why Mommy is a Democrat, is quite interesting.

It’s propaganda for kids.  You need to read the sample pages too.

I think it’s good. I think we need this.  Because in showing us what Democrats stand for in terms that a child can understand, you come to understand what Democrats think of the general population: they need to be cared for just like children.

Thus, “mommy’s little boy” or “mommy’s little girl” is analogous to “a child of the state.”

The underlying message? Government knows best for you. You don’t. You’re immature and naive.

This just shows the general contempt that Democrats have for the general population.  Interestingly enough, this is not something uncommon among governing elitists or leftward-leaning political philosophers.  Marx spoke about the working class, but hated them.  He wanted nothing to do with them personally, and avoided them.

The ruling class will hate the children of the state because it is the children who ultimately empower them, but they will profess love to them because…it is the children who ultimately empower them.

You might think that propaganda is a male goose in a suite and monocle, but that’s not right.

I like this decision, but hearing the replies of Al Gore’s movie proponents is telling, and hearkens back to Marx.

Think, as you read this, of an cataclysmic event that is believed to exist, but the facts are not there. What do you do if you want to make the cataclysm real in the minds of the people? Re-interpret the facts and reality in favor of your conclusion, and put the worshipped name “science” on it.

Then those who don’t know any better but to bow to science have to bow to your conclusion.

 Key Quote:

“I am shocked that a school district would come to this decision,” the movie’s co-producer, Laurie David, said in a prepared statement. “There is no opposing view to science, which is fact, and the facts are clear that global warming is here, now.”

But “facts” can be false, and false facts with a true logic can lead to a true conclusion, however wrong it is.
