The Hypocrisy of Algore Wed, March 21, 2007

This man is nothing but an actor, strutting on his global stage, soaking up the spotlight shone upon him by small minds and great opportunists. His refusal to put his money where his mouth is, and to conform to the the very ideals he professes to love, shows him to be nothing more than a money-grubbing, pseudo-scientific power seeker carried on the wave of his own fear-mongering.
Abortion Blackmail Wed, March 21, 2007

A South Carolina lawmaker has introduced legislation that would require women seeking an abortion to view a sonogram of their child before deciding if they really want to murder them.
This is great, but it’s met with some opposition from fellow lawmakers who view the requirement as “extreme.”
Representative Gilda Cobb-Hunter (D -Orangeburg County) opined,
“I see it as some kind of emotional blackmail, and I think we’re putting an undue burden on our healthcare providers and on folk who are providing those services,”
…
“The supporters of this legislation seem to believe that women enter into this decision blindly or without a lot of thought.”
Ah. So these women would be blackmailed. How would they be emotionally blackmailed about something for which they feel no shame? Are you saying that there is something shameful or hideous about murdering your own child?
I would think that women who claim to be rational, as Cobb-Hunter believes them to be, would welcome data regarding their decision. If you say “my mind is made up, don’t tell me anything else” then you tip your hand a bit and indicate that your ideas about what you want can’t bear intellectually honest arguments or facts.

You can read Algore’s testimony before the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.
As you read, you can hear the dramatic music. This world needs a hero. Algore is that hero.
Save us all, Algore! Save us from ourselves and the danger that we have become to the world!

According to this report, our capital in DC is not doing so hot.
Persons familiar with the basic grammar of the English tongue might also note that only 2 out of 10 reporters are capable of correctly penning sentences beyond the level of a 3rd grader.
I quote:
WASHINGTON (AP) – About one-third of the people living in the national’s capital are functionally illiterate, compared with about one-fifth nationally, according to a report on the District of Columbia.
End quote.
How ironic! The Associated Press with all its magnificent resources and journalistic expertise cannot write an article on literacy in our nation’s capital without thoroughly butchering it into very small pieces.
I love our public education system, which turns out such fine specimens of literary ability as these.

When in danger or in doubt
Run in circles, scream and shout!
This is the current trend among global alarmists.
MSM Spin and Gingrich Sat, March 10, 2007

Here again we have a great example of the mainstream media’s utter disdain for truthful and accurate reporting, and their unabashed pandering to the leftist agenda.
Gingrich has admitted that he had an extramarital affair at the time of the Clinton impeachment proceedings. This is being reported by the media in terms that make it clear that there is a double standard, since Gingrich was leading the charge against Clinton for his involvement with Lewinsky while at the same time himself having an extramarital affair.
Newt Gingrich, the Republican who led efforts in Congress to impeach Bill Clinton over his involvement with Monica Lewinsky, has admitted he was having an affair at the time.
This is pure hogwash.
Clinton was not being impeached because of his involvement with Lewinsky, he was being impeached because of the fact that he lied under oath!
So the leftist media can cry foul, try to show how conservatives are no better than they, and thus vindicate Clinton’s actions as nothing more or less than what conservatives do every day.
Where are the journalists who will accurately and truthfully tell the story, rather than act as the mouthpiece for the Left?

Here’s a link to a great documentary that actually uses facts, as opposed to Gore’s schlockumentary which uses political drivel and cheesy animated polar bears.
A must see.
Update:
Also, here is a link to the newsbusters post on this. The post is definitely worth reading as well.

One thing that really concerns me is political correctness. Political correctness is pure censorship: nothing more, and nothing less.
These students in this story here are being censored by the PC crowd. The students can’t post a site as a joke without someone getting their very delicate sensibilities injured. This is pathetic. While some of you might think that the site was tasteless, that’s not the point. If you don’t like a website, don’t go back. If you don’t want to see inappropriate images online, you avoid sites that contain those, and if you don’t want to hear about the “White Nation,” which is really a joke, then you can just avoid that website. But don’t be a sissy and censor someone’s work just because you think that it’s inappropriate.
We run into this every day: the Left promotes all kinds of things that are in poor taste, but they are not censored. Take a look at day-time or anytime TV. But if someone promotes something even as a joke that offends the Left, they rush out in force to get it taken off the air, or off the internet.
Double-standards are for weak, unprincipled people.
Will the French See the Light? Mon, March 5, 2007

Newsflash…
This is conspicuously absent from the MSM, as we hear daily cries about the “concensus” on the “scientific fact” that is purportedly global warming. (I lay aside here the very obvious argument against science as determined by “concensus.” If science were determined by concensus, Galileo would be laughed at for his solar-centric cosmology, and rats would be thought to be generated by garbage waste).
I digress.
What we have here is a leading French socialist and scientist who years ago was among the first to decry global warming as the foremost burgeoning threat to the very fabric of civilization. Today, however, the prominent and respected Dr. Claude Allegre is voicing strong opinion to the contrary of his equally vocal former allies.
His [Dr. Allegre's] break with what he now sees as environmental cant on climate change came in September, in an article entitled “The Snows of Kilimanjaro” in l’ Express, the French weekly. His article cited evidence that Antarctica is gaining ice and that Kilimanjaro’s retreating snow caps, among other global-warming concerns, come from natural causes. “The cause of this climate change is unknown,” he states matter of factly. There is no basis for saying, as most do, that the “science is settled.”
This blog asks wonderingly, did we who depend daily upon the MSM for our very outlook on life hear of Dr. Allegre’s very provocotive anti-concensus comments? What did we hear about global warming at this time? Quite a bit, if you look at it. Was any of it really anti-concensus? Hmmm….Nope. Was there anything that spoke of leading scientists who conscientiously objected to the politicalization of a hopelessly fantastic theory? Hmmm….Nope again. Was there any positive coverage of a “global-warming denier” during this time? Again, not a chance.
Do you believe everything that you see on TV or hear on the radio? Do you think that because it’s in a scholarly article that it must be the truth?
Annoy a liberal and think for yourself.

Turns out that Gore’s “carbon offsets” are being bought from a company that he owns. Additionally, the effectiveness of carbon offsets is unknown. So Gore is using an alternative to cutting down his own carbon usage that is of unestablished and questionable effectiveness.
This makes sense, doesn’t it?
Additionally, the fact that he owns the company that he is buying the offsets from means that he is paying himself, whether in the form of an investment in green companies or in another form. But the company does not sell offsets to anyone but Gore. Coincidence? I don’t think so.
If there is any doubt in anyone’s mind regarding the cult of global warming and its high priest, Al Gore, they ought to do some research to find out that he’s selling snake oil.
Firearms Ban Mon, March 5, 2007

This is something very important.
I know that perhaps out there in the vast milieu of my readership (as it were) there are, perhaps, one or two persons who might disagree with me on the subject of firearm ownership. I should like to think that on the whole, however, firearm ownership is not only agreed upon as a positive aspect of American citizenship, but also as having played a fundamental role in the shaping of the United States. Were it not for individual firearm ownership in early American history, we would not be living in the United States as we know them to be today.
The above is merely context for the not-so-startling news that the Democrats are again intent on banning firearms from the U.S. Citizenry. It has been tried before (though last time that it succeeded, it was only for a limited time, and the ban only affected guns that looked scary to some people) but the effort is being renewed and with a substantive change.
Today, instead of banning firearms that look scary (which is so subjective that it is alarming…scary to whom? How scary? Why does scary even matter?) the Democrats would like to change their previously symbolic and ultimately pointless opposition to individual firearm ownership into a substantial, very pointed opposition to the U.S. citizen’s constitutional right to keep and bear arms.
The bill is HR 1022, and you should read about it.
When you are done, sign the petition I linked to above. Even if you don’t own a firearm yourself, your freedom not to own a firearm in historically unprecedented safety was purchased by the blood of those who both owned firearms and were prepared to use them in a conscientious way.

McCain has spoken out and said that Americans are upset:
“Americans are very frustrated and they have every right to be. We wasted a lot of our most precious treasure, which is American lives, over there.”
According to the article, this caused a backlash among Democrats, who were very upset at McCain’s words, and who also demanded an apology.
Wait a minute. You mean Democrats? You mean those who make a habit of bashing the war, and who make a habit of bashing the troops, and who talk about wasted, wasted lives, and getting stuck in Iraq if you don’t have a good education.
So now McCain has apologized to the Dems, who will continue to bash the war effort in Iraq, and call it a waste.
Multi-Planet Warming!! Thu, March 1, 2007

This article is not getting a lot of the lime-light in the MSM. I wonder why.
Just a bit more of the truth that shows the members of the Cult of Global Warming to be living in a fantasy world.
The purporter of this theory, which states that solar irradiation is largely responsible for the increased temperatures experienced on both Mars and Earth, has not been regarded kindly by other “climate scientists.”
From the article,
“His views are completely at odds with the mainstream scientific opinion,” said Colin Wilson, a planetary physicist at England’s Oxford University.
Ah, what fun! I love the way consensus drives science! It looks out at what everyone thinks about something that is new, and says “We have never thought this way before. What we think must, of necessity, be right. Ergo, the new way we have not considered must be wrong.”
Thus by an appeal to the old they throw out the new…and this makes sense how?
My mind is made up, please don’t confuse me with the facts!

Here’s a funny story about a guy who tried to cash a check from God.
I don’t really know what to say about this. It just made me laugh.
